Obituary of Joseph Emery Leo LONGPRE

March 18, 1922 – April 25, 2013 Leo Longpre, beloved husband of Florence Longpre of Edmonton, AB passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the age of 91 years. Leo married the love of his life, Florence, on December 26, 1945 and for the next sixty-seven years he was a loving, caring and devoted husband, father and in later years, grandfather and great-grandfather. Leo worked in the Oil and Gas Industry, becoming a specialist in welding engineering and quality control with Black, Sivalls & Bryson and retiring as the Manager of Operations after more than twenty-nine years of dedicated service. He was a skilled carpenter and builder who learned the trade working with his father-in-law J.P. Levasseur in Edmonton, AB. Throughout his life, he loved to work on building projects and was always willing to spend his time and expertise helping his family and friends. Leo was also a sports enthusiast, who always knew the score when it came to golf, hockey or football. Leo and Florence enjoyed travelling, especially road trips to California and Arizona, where they could play golf and enjoy sunny days. Most of all, Leo loved family gatherings, and they were an important part of his life. Leo is survived by his loving wife Florence; his daughter Denise (Chris); his son Roger; three grandchildren, Jennifer, Justine (Jeremy) and Claire; two great-grandchildren Jonah and Charlie; his four sisters-in-law Isabelle, Marion, Trudy and Jeannette and two brothers-in-law Gerry (Helga) and Peter; also left to cherish his memory are numerous nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his daughter Rachelle; parents Emery and Virginia (Montreuil); his three brothers, George, William, and Albert; his three sisters, Florence, Cecile, and Alma. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Drive N.W.), on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (1566 Northmount Drive N.W.), on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
