Obituary of Buff Coulter MURRELL

March 24, 1929 – February 21, 2013 Buff Coulter Murrell beloved husband for sixty years of Jean of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at the age of 83 years. Buff was born in Stonewall, MB and was raised on a small farm with sisters Verna and Phyllis. After completing high school, he moved to High River, AB in 1947. Buff gained employment with TransAlta Utilities (at that time, Calgary Power), starting March 1, 1948 on a construction crew. He remained with TransAlta for forty years, retiring March 31, 1988 as an area supervisor. Dad enjoyed time spent with family and especially his grandchildren, including companion Furby. He cared deeply for all of us, always supporting, always encouraging, always there. He also enjoyed woodworking, producing numerous items proudly displayed in the homes of many family members. Besides his loving wife Jean, Buff is survived by sons Steven Brent Murrell (Colleen) and Robert John Murrell (Maria); daughter Cathryn Joan Murrell (Jim Balfour); grandchildren, Nicole, Julie and Naomi Murrell, Evelyn “Lyndi” and Coulter Balfour, and Richard Armitage; sister Phyllis Murray; sisters-in-law Jessie, Betty and Evelyn; brother-in-law Bud, as well as many nieces and nephews.
