Obituary of Leon HAPTON

August 12, 1921-February 3, 2013 It is with great sadness that we announce that Leon passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the age of 91. Leon was born and raised in Calgary. He enlisted in the Canadian army in 1942, serving in Canada from August 1942 to February 1943. He then served overseas from 1943 until 1946, when he returned to Calgary where he was discharged in April, 1946. Leon owned and operated Hapton’s Mens, Teens and Boys Wear for many years until he retired. He then worked in the office at the Brass Monocle until he was 90 years of age. Leon is survived by his wife, Becky, to whom he was married for 65 years; his son Garry, (Sharon), daughter Rennie, (Keith Dunbar), grandson Daniel Hapton, granddaughters Blaire Hapton, Stephanie and Amy Dunbar, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Belle and brother Sam. Leon was a private, dignified, sweet gentleman, with a wonderfully dry sense of humour and a Cheshire Cat grin. He was a man of few words who didn’t need to say a lot to get his point across. Leon was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice. Graveside Services and internment will be held at Erlton Cemetery (Erlton Street & 30th Avenue S.W., Calgary, AB) on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Arrangements in care of the CHEVRA KADISHA OF CALGARY, Telephone: 403-244-4717.
