Obituary of Ruth Lillian McCLUSKEY
July 27, 1921 – December 8, 2012
Ruth Lillian McCluskey of Calgary passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at the age of 91 years.
Ruth was born in Grand Falls, NB to Lillian Taylor (Cowell) and Walter Taylor on July 27, 1921. She married Harry McCluskey and with their four sons the family moved to Peace River, AB. Ruth owned and operated several businesses including the “Five and Dime” general store. Following that, she worked for many years at the Court of Queen’s Bench. After retirement, Ruth moved to Black Diamond, AB and was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She was a genuine, strong, and dependable woman who was dedicated to her family and faith. We are truly grateful to her for the many values and principles that she taught and instilled in us by how she lived her life. We will miss her.
Ruth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David (Ann) McCluskey; grandchildren and their spouses, Alynn (Berwyn), JoAnn (Scott), Maureen (Rob), Dick (Rona), Nicole, Nadine, Dean (Lisa), Paul (Kirsten), Lisa (Chris); and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Harry McCluskey; sons Burton, James and Paul; her siblings and their spouses Chester (Trudy) Taylor, Clarence (Jean) Taylor and Dorothy (Gordon) Beamish.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, December 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside service to follow at the Foothills Cemetery in Black Diamond, AB. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
