Obituary of Linda Margaret COLE

February 16, 1949 – December 4, 2017 Linda Cole passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on December 4, 2017, at the age of 68, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Linda was a loving and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She will be deeply missed by her husband of 44 years, John Cole; her daughter, Megan Cole Reinkens (Bill); her son, John Cole; her grandchildren, Anna and Samuel Reinkens; her siblings, Sandra Lansfield (Giles), Richard Nicoud, Daniel Nicoud (Roberta), and Timothy Nicoud; her brother-in-law, Christopher Cole; her niece and nephews, Jessica Lansfield, Alexander Lansfield, Simon Nicoud (Laurie), and Michael Nicoud; and a large extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, Cyril (Cec) and Margaret Nicoud; and her parents-in-law, Frederick and Betty Cole. Linda was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. After high school, she trained at the Foothills School of Nursing, receiving her R.N., and then went on to earn her Bachelor of Nursing from McGill University. Being a nurse was more than a profession for her, it was truly her calling. She cared for many people over the years, both through her work and in her personal life. Linda worked in many different areas of nursing. She spent the last 20 years of her career as a public health nurse with Alberta Health Services. Linda was also very involved with the United Nurses of Alberta union, passionately advocating for nurses and their patients. More recently, Linda enjoyed retirement, spending her time travelling the world with John, knitting, quilting, cooking, reading, gardening, and enjoying time with family, especially her grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye. We will all miss her infectious laugh. Linda’s family would like to thank all her nurses, doctors, and other caregivers over the past three years, particularly those at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and the Calgary palliative homecare team. Linda was also very grateful for the support of the Sunflower Ovarian Group. A Celebration of Linda’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North, Calgary, AB) on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home.
