Obituary of Donald Emile COUTU
October 2, 1935 – September 22, 2012
Don Coutu beloved husband of Margaret passed away in Calgary on September 22, 2012 at the age of 76.
Don was born in Vegreville, Alberta on October 2, 1935 and was raised on a farm in Twohills. Don moved to Calgary 1956. He met and married his beautiful wife in 1958 and spent the last 54 years sharing their life together. He began his career as an UGG elevator agent with postings in Sexsmith, Holden, Barrhead, Calgary, and Drumheller. With a love for the farming community, Don continued his career with the Alberta Hail and Crop Insurance in Calgary and eventually moving his family to Lacombe, Alberta. Upon retirement, Margaret and Don moved back to Calgary. Don loved baseball and was actively involved in community leagues and loved to watch his beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
Don is predeceased by a son (Blaine) in 1998. He is survived by his wife (Margaret) and children, Tracey and Russell Aulstead, Darrell and Shelley Coutu, and Rob and Joanna Coutu – 9 grandchildren (Becky, Clayton, Brendan, Tyler, Mitchell, Evan, Alexander, Andrea and Danny), 2 brothers (Albert Coutu and John Krause), a sister (Betty Krause), a sister in law (Helen Namespetro), and a brother and sister in law (Gordon and Cynthia Namespetro). Don is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. We would like to express special appreciation to friends Darla and Harold for their special support over these past few months.
Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
