Obituary of John SCHOFIELD

February 3, 1929 – August 25, 2012 On August 25, 2012, Jack passed peacefully in his sleep, leaving Jean, his “favorite wife” of almost sixty years. His legacy lives on in his four children, of whom he was so proud. He loved his ten grandchildren and five great-grandsons. Remembering Jack are Jean, his much loved wife, son Richard (Susan) and their children Jennifer (Mark), Katherine (Kyle), Andrew (Jenna) and Christopher; daughter Anne Duffield (David), their daughters Karen Rocque (Sean) and Jo-anne Sieppert (Scott) and great-grandsons Michael and Tyler Sieppert and Carter, Liam and Riley Rocque; daughter Jane Chambers (Rod) and their sons Robert (Diana), John (Jaclyn) and Richard; son Paul (Rena) and his son James (Andrew). He will also be missed by his sister Norah and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Wales, England and Canada. Jack was born in the Fire Station Flat, Stalybridge, Cheshire, England. He immigrated to Calgary in 1987. In his retirement he became an avid carpet bowler at the Good Companions Seniors Club leading a team to win the Seniors Provincial Championship in 2003. Since the diagnosis of A.L.S. in June 2009, Jack’s life journey became increasingly difficult. He will be remembered as an honourable man who always had a kind word for everyone and although he was unable to put his arms around you, his touch meant the same as a hug. In memory of Jack, please hug the ones you love. The support of the A.L.S. Society, particularly Jane Rivest, the numerous caregivers from “We Care” and the A.L.S Clinic has been greatly appreciated.
