Obituary of Kenneth DREGER
May 21, 1944 – August 3, 2012
Ken Dreger passed away following a long journey with prostate cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda, of forty-three years; his sons Darryl (Tammy) and Colin (Angie); and seven grandchildren. Ken is also survived by his mother Lily Dreger; sister, Dianne (Don); and brother, Keith (Donna) all of Edmonton. In his early years Ken was very active with Scouts and was a square dance caller for many years with the group known as “Teen 8 ers”. This group continues to meet every two years to dance and reunite with long time friends. Ken graduated with a BComm from the U of A and worked in the family business, moving to Calgary in 1978 to open the Calgary branch of Dreger’s Kitchen Corner. In 1994 Ken completed a computer science certificate and in February of 1994 joined Smart Technologies where he worked until retirement in January 2012. His area of expertise was in technical services and customer support. Over the past eleven years Ken worked diligently to keep up to date with treatments and adjunctive therapies for prostate cancer. He shared his knowledge with many through his association with the Prostate Cancer Canada Network Calgary
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
