John FISHER

Obituary of John Clinton FISHER

1925 – 2012 John dedicated his life to his family, the wife he adored, Marjorie (Kitchen) and three daughters, Frances (Joe Churcher), Joanne (Robbie McKee) and Patricia (Gavin Proudfoot). He was dearly loved by his grandchildren, Lauren, Mike, Adrian, Sean, Tiffany, Kevin, Emily and Carl. John passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in Calgary at the age of 87. He lived a full and happy life. Born in Lindsey, Ontario, after serving in the Naval Reserve Band, he graduated from the University of Toronto with a Chemical Engineering degree, in 1950. That same year he married Marjorie. An avid musician, John began playing the trombone at a young age and later played piano and the organ. He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Canada. There will be a memorial service at a future date, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Calgary. John touched the hearts of everyone he knew and leaves behind many good friends he met during his time working first for Shell Canada, all across Canada, and later for Ultramar, in Quebec and then in Long Beach, California. We all know we will be seeing him again and as he would say, “I’ll look forward to it.” A service of thanksgiving for the life of John Fisher will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church (1009 – 15th Avenue S.W.) on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to the Salvation Army in John’s name.
