Obituary of Bonnie LEMAY

January 29, 1931 – July 6, 2012 Bonnie LeMay (nee Abraham) passed away in the early hours of Friday, July 6, 2012, after a battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease). She is survived by her brother John Abraham of Palo Alto; her daughter Jean LeMay of Calgary; her much loved cousins; extended family, and her fur people, Caru and Lolita. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1996; and her parents John and Esther Abraham of Chicago. She was a student of life and saw it from a different perspective. Bonnie never did things in the usual way or for the expected reasons. She was always an independent, creative and curious person starting in the fields across from her childhood home to the icy landscape of the Antarctic in 2003. She went to Northwestern University and the University of Colorado and had her own consulting company for many years. Bonnie had many interests in her lifetime from teaching literacy to ballroom dance. A master bridge player, she raced cars, kept bees, showed cats, had horses, was a private pilot and lifetime member of ACTRA, playwright (CBC radio & ATP), and Calgary Society Independent Film. Bonnie loved gardening and sharing its bounty with friends and the wildlife. She was a strong advocate for property owner’s rights and water preservation. She was ahead of her time and her projects seemed to start with the phrase “I’ve been thinking.” She always found good friends wherever she was and she could always find more (fun) things to do. Instead of a service, Bonnie prefers a party because she loved good food and the company of friends. Please contact family for date and place.
