Obituary of Evelyn Gladys STACKHOUSE

August 30, 1916 – June16, 2012 Evelyn Gladys Stackhouse passed away peacefully at the Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the age of 95 years. Ev was born and raised in rural Saskatchewan, where her parents farmed. In 1939 she moved to Regina where she met and married her husband, Keith, in 1942. In 1950 they moved to Calgary where they raised their family and resided until their deaths. Those who knew her will remember Ev as a woman of strong faith who was an active church member, a willing volunteer and a good friend. Her family will cherish the memory of a wonderful homemaker who was greatly loved by her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Many may remember her as the kind and gentle lady who served them at The King’s Corner Christian Bookstore where she was an active partner from 1974 to 1996. Evelyn is survived by her three children and their spouses, Diane and Jim Adams, Donna Mae and Allyn Humber, and Darryl and Doreen Stackhouse; and by her seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Keith (January 6, 2004) and her daughter-in-law Laurie (February 16, 2009). Evelyn will be greatly missed by her family and friends but, rather than mourn her death, we will gratefully remember the many good years and happy memories we shared with her and rejoice that she is at home with her Lord and reunited with her husband. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
