Obituary of BIG TOBACCO

October 5, 1966 – June 2, 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and cousin on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the age of 45. Calvin was an avid animal lover with three dogs (Omahkiinee, Buddy & Baby Girl) whom he showered with love. He loved the outdoor life such as: Fishing, Hunting, Ranching and Camping. Calvin worked for Marlon Many Guns Ranch for many years, he also loved his rodeos. Calvin was a very cultural person, he made his Cursillo in May 2011 at Siksika Nation, Alberta his theme was “Reach Out And Touch The Lord”. Calvin left an imprint on everyone’s life that he met though his cheerfulness, loving and caring ways. Calvin had two special adopted brothers, Marlon Many Guns and Malcolm Big Tobacco. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Sally Yellow Fly; children, Calvin Jr, Raylene, Girlie and Levi Big Tobacco; step-children Darcel Yellow Fly (Ferlin), Ashley Red Calf, Trina Yellow Fly and Peter Red Calf (Crystal); Godchild Alison Yellow Fly; siblings, Lydia Brass, Joan Big Tobacco, Sandra Broad Scalplock, Melvin Big Tobacco (Juanita), Gerald Big Tobacco (Wanda), Robert Big Tobacco (Lily) and Marion Big Tobacco (Alvin); Adopted Parents (Uncle and Aunt) Mike and Connie Rabbit Carrier, John and Irma Wolf Child; Aunties Susan Strangling Wolf, Elizabeth Scout; father-in-law Noel Yellow Fly; brother-in-law Eugene Yellow Fly; sisters-in-law Floria Duck Chief, Marion Lafrance, Polly Yellow Fly, Evangeline Yellow Fly and Debbie Yellow Fly; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as extended families, Many Guns, Rabbit Carriers, Red Guns, Sleighs, Big Snakes, Crowfoots, Bull Bears, Many Heads, Breakers, Cutters, Good Eagles, Turning Robes, Blackface Chief, Buffalo, Water Chief, Back Fat, Eagle Bears, Yellow Old Woman, McMaster and Leather. The family apologizes for anyone we may have missed. Calvin was predeceased by parents Jim Turning Robe and Martha Big Tobacco; brothers, James Big Tobacco and Darryl Black Face; grandparents, Lawrence Big Tobacco, Elizabeth Many Guns, Black Face, Victoria Turning Robe; Uncles Raymond Turning Robe, Norman Big Tobacco, Francis Big Tobacco; and Auntie Genevieve Cutter. Wake Services will be held at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be celebrated at the Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbour (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, June 8, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Chicago Cemetery (Siksika Nation, AB).
