Obituary of Mary Louise MANSELL

September 6, 1913 – May 26, 2012 We reluctantly said goodbye to our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Saturday, May 26, 2012. Mary Louise Mansell (nee McPherson) was born on September 6, 1913 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, one of 8 children. Mom married Ed Mansell on June 17, 1939 and they had 64 wonderful years together before Dad’s passing in 2003. Mom was a kind and patient mother, a good friend to many and a talented musician who could make the piano keys come alive. She filled our childhood with music and taught us the meaning of unconditional love in families. Mom and Dad were truly partners in everything they did – their love of music and their ability to showcase it for others; their love of nature and outdoor activities, and their significant involvement in the life of Pleasant Heights and Wild Rose United Churches. Mom will be profoundly missed by our family. She is survived by four children, Marilese (Bob) MacDonell, Bill (Jane) Mansell, Claudia Mansell (Hal Irving) and Larry (Debbie) Mansell. Mom was very proud of her nine grandchildren, Janis Crockett (Jocelyn Savoie), Scott (Michelle) Springman, Renée (Mark) Day, Danielle (Jacob) Troesch, Craig (Lindsay) Mansell, Jennifer (Bill) Spackman, Allison Mansell (Dave Sherjan), Elliott Mansell and Ben Mansell. She was privileged to have ten loving great-grandchildren, Connor, Sydney, Kayden, Adasyn, Carston, Ryder, Trayton, Graydon, Kiptyn and Preston, as well as four step-grandchildren, Michelle (Don) Havens, Laura (Kevin) Larsen, their sons, Isaac and Eli, Trevor MacDonell (Kelly Allen) and Nathan (Amber) Irving and their daughter Briar. A Celebration of Mom’s Life will be held at Wild Rose United Church (1317 – 1 Street N.W., Calgary) on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Linda Hunter officiating. Parking relaxation in effect. To forward expressions of sympathy go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made in Mary’s name to the Foundation at Wild Rose United Church, the Alzheimer Society of Calgary or a charitable organization of your choice. Our family would like to thank Mom’s companions, Colleen Gardner and Audrey Stokoe for their friendship towards Mom. We also thank the kind staff at Newport Harbour Care Centre for the past five years of care and comfort given to Mom.
