Obituary of John Edward ROTHWELL

June 21, 1934 – May 7, 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Edward Rothwell on Monday, May 7, 2012 at the age of 77. John was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan but made his home in Calgary, Alberta with his wife and children. John had a variety of successful careers encompassing insurance, real estate and retail sales, but his passion was the past. Ultimately he opened an antique shop, where he and his wife spent many happy hours puttering amongst their inventory, admiring the quality and craftsmanship of a bygone era, and listening to the story each piece had to tell. His hobbies were equally eclectic; volunteering as an officer in the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Core at HMCS Tecumseh; publishing a voluminous work on the genealogy of the family; movies and travel. Above all, he was a husband and a father. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, John (Desiree), David (Susan), Douglas (Debbie), Elaine (Rob) Szabo, and Barry, as well as John’s seven grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Jonathan, Callista, Stephanie, Catherine and Jeffrey. John was predeceased by his wife Mary, his father John and his mother Mary. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (4903 – 45th Street S.W.) on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Stephen Protomartyr Ukrainian Catholic Church (4903 – 45th Street S.W.) on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
