Obituary
Obituary of Lucien DUPONT
November 24, 1938 – March 19, 2012
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Lou Dupont, on Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Beverly Centre Glenmore.
Lou was born in Sidi Bel Abbes, Algeria and immigrated with his parents to France and then on to Canada in 1952. With the exception of a few years in California, Lou has lived in the Calgary area ever since. In 1969, Lou started Lou’s Auto Body in Inglewood. Over the years it became a household name in Calgary and well known for it’s work and integrity, and is still run by his son Steven. In his younger years Lou loved dancing and music, playing the saxophone in his own band and also with The Bowness Band. In later years he enjoyed farming in the Airdrie area. It was indeed “Old MacDonald’s Farm” and gave him great pleasure.
Lou is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Susan, and his four children and their spouses, Lucien (Jennifer), Michelle (Robin), Steven (Nancy), and Nicole. He will also be greatly missed by his much loved grandchildren, Maxine and Eloise Dupont, Evan and Emma Auld, and Sarah and Ryan Smith. Lou is also survived by sister and brother-in-law Sally and Ed Leatherland and family of Guelph, Ontario; nephew Paul Unangst and family of Cochrane, Alberta; as well as aunts, uncles and cousins in France.
Lou bravely fought a battle with Parkinson’s disease for the past ten years and is now at peace. The family wish to thank everyone who came to visit Lou at the Beverly during the past few months and a very special Thank You to Lou’s Caregivers at the Beverly for their dedication and compassion to both Lou and the family.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queens Park Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
