Obituary of Helmut Anton KONDRING
September 19, 1932– March 18, 2012
Helmut Anton Kondring passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the age of 79 years.
Helmut was born in Gelsenkirchen, Germany and immigrated to Montreal in 1958. He had a wonderful and adventurous childhood, good teenage years and an exciting life thereafter. He lived in Montreal for twenty-two years and later moved to the west where he lived in Saskatoon, Richmond, Abbottsford and finally Calgary. He was an entrepreneur and successful businessman where he really made a name for himself in Saskatoon and established Midwest Sportswear and later Glacier Skiwear. He designed, manufactured and dressed people for over forty years!
Helmut will be remembered for his faith in God, the love he showed his family, his strong work ethic, his kindness to his friends and people he met and worked with, his love of the outdoors, travelling, the arts, classical music and the fine taste of wine. Those who knew him best, know how well dressed he always was.
Helmut will be missed by his sons Dave and Mike Kondring and Marc Pilon; daughter-in-law Michelle; his grandchildren Blake and Braden Pilon; as well as all who knew and loved him well.
We have faith that God has called his son, Helmut and we invite friends and family to celebrate Mass on Friday March 23, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral (219 – 18th Avenue S.W.). Forward condolences through www.mcinnisholloway.com.
