Obituary of Ardis Lorraine CLARK
March 23, 1925 – March 15, 2012
Ardis Lorraine Clark passed away peacefully in Calgary, AB on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the age of 86 years.
Ardis was born in Wainright, AB and spent much of her childhood at the gas camp in Viking, AB where her father Art Horton was employed. Her mother Stella Horton was the camp cook. After attending Camrose Lutheran College, Ardis moved to Victoria with her family. In 1948, Ardis married Dave Clark and spent the next thirty-two years raising a family of five in Calgary. Following Dave’s passing, Ardis took it upon herself to carry on and get the most out of life. She got her driver’s license and joined a weekly swimming group. Ardis worked for many years at the North Hill Sears and then volunteered for Tourism Alberta. She was a world traveller and visited five continents but above all, Ardis loved to joke around and make people laugh. We have all benefited from Ardis’s sense of humour, so in her memory, please go out today and make somebody smile.
Ardis is lovingly remembered by her children Kerry Clark and Mardy Courtney (Bob) of Edmonton, Chris Anderson (Lance) of Calgary, Todd Clark (Susan) of Nanaimo and Lorna Webster of Langley; grandchildren, Riley Anderson and Jade Anderson of Calgary, Laraba Thompson and Erin Thompson of Edmonton, Valerie Urquhart (Sean) of Maple Ridge, Ryan Webster and Eric Moore of Langley, Stephanie Clark and Jennifer Hodi (Kornel) of Nanaimo; great-grandchildren, Ayla Urquhart, Logan Urquhart and Clark Hodi. Ardis was predeceased by her husband Dave Clark in 1980, and brothers Glen and Neil Horton.
