Obituary of John Douglas LINES

March 18, 1922 – March 14, 2012 After a courageous battle with cancer our beloved Father and Grandfather passed away with family by his side at the age of 89. Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Joan, and his brother Gordon Lines. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Brent (Kathy); daughter, Valerie; grandchildren, Kristyn, Tyler and Jim (Cheryl); and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Christine and Russell. He will also be missed by his sister, Jennie Vickers and nephew, Wayne Larson (Kathy) of Brandon, Manitoba; and sister-in-law, Pearl (Gordon); and nephew and niece, Gary and Carol of Edmonton, Alberta. Jack was born in Swift Current, SK and had a full and active life starting in 1922 in Cantour, SK. As a young man he grew up working on the farm and joined the Royal Air Force to fight for his country in WWII. After the war, Jack worked in the mining and oil industries and lastly started with Environment Canada, Water Resources in Calgary until retirement. A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the very helpful and caring staff of Scenic Acres Retirement Residence, and the caring and compassionate nursing staff at Santuari Hospice. They made his last days very comfortable and peaceful.
