Obituary of Hilda Bernice MELLOR

August 12, 1915 – March 13, 2012 After a short illness, Pat Mellor of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the age of 96 years. She was born in Middlesboro, Yorkshire, England under a table during a bombing raid in 1915. She came to Canada with her mother and sister when she was still a child, and grew up in High River and Blackie. After the farms were sold, she moved to Calgary where she has resided ever since. Pat was able to stay at home with her daughter Jill until the last four months. She was a strong, stubborn, feisty woman who didn’t care about “things”, only her family. Give her a pot of PG Tips tea and she was a happy soul. She shared her birthday with her granddaughter Karen. She is survived by two daughters, Beverley (Spielman), Jill (Shaw), and son Garry Mellor. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Kendall, Karen and Keith (Nadine) Spielman; and three great-grandchildren, Toni, Keith (KJ) and Andrew. She will be missed by nieces Brenda and Barbara and nephew John. She was predeceased by her mother, one sister, three brothers, son-in-law Allen Spielman; daughter-in-law Shari Mellor. Pat will be put to rest alongside her mother in High River, the place she had her fondest memories. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family appreciates the compassion and care extended by the nursing staff of Unit 52 of Peter Lougheed Centre in making Mom’s final hours comfortable. In living memory of Pat Mellor, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek Chapel, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: (403) 256-9575.
