Obituary of Guido Roman

December 24, 1948 – March 8, 2012 Guido Haas beloved husband of Sandra (nee Bates) of Calgary, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the age of 63 years after courageously battling numerous medical issues. Guido optimistically dealt with each health setback smiling and never complaining. Guido was born in Kabul Afghanistan, Dec. 24, 1948 and moved many times early in his life settling with his family in Canada in the early 1950s. He became a proud Canadian citizen in 1967. Guido taught computer maintenance at Control Data Institute (Scarb.) after graduating with 98%. Guido got his B.Sc. at U of W by correspondence while advancing his career in Calgary and Toronto, working up to Cdn. Technical Support Manager. While he was a man of few words, Guido had a dry sense of humour. He enjoyed sports, especially football. Guido had numerous health issues, a result of a double lung transplant in 2005 that prolonged his life. Despite his many obstacles Guido enjoyed travelling and his yearly fishing trips. Even though Guido was legally blind he had a great love of reading and listening to his talking books. Guido is survived by his loving wife Sandra of almost 38 years; two sons Matt (Shannan) of Edson, AB and Doug of Calgary; his mother Ursula; sisters Bea Semenuk (Roy) and Barb Hrenchuk (Russ) all of Thunder Bay, ON; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Guido was predeceased by his father, Roman in 1998. Special thanks to the ICU nurses and Dr.’s @ P.L.C. Ever grateful to Dr. Helmersen, & Dr. Sepandj.
