Obituary of Fred Evart BALL

February 14, 1924 – March 7, 2012 With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of the beloved husband of Mary (Evans), father of Bruce (Louise), Linda (John Colberg), Lois (Henry Lesser), Pam (Barry Cardamone), Darcy (Maja), David (Anette), grandfather of eighteen, and the great-grandfather of nine. Dad is also survived by three sisters, Nora Bychyk, Shirley Kormendy and Lorraine Moore (Ken). Dad was predeceased by his brother, Art, son-in-law, Rick Dart, and grandson-in-law, James Hoshizaki. The son of John and Mabel Ball, Dad spent his early years on the farm at Boyle, AB. After marrying Mom in 1944, Dad farmed the family farm as well as his own land until he went to work for the Alberta Wheat Pool in Colinton, AB. Dad enjoyed a successful 37-year career with the Pool which took him to Athabasca, Drumheller, Winnipeg and then Calgary where he became the Director of Country Operations, retiring in 1985. Dad was a highly respected, kind and gentle man who always had a twinkle in his eye. While his family remained his priority, Dad and Mom enjoyed their days exploring Canada and the US in their motorhome. Mom’s ill health saw her move to a care facility and Dad was welcomed into Darcy and Maja’s home. Because of their loving care, Dad was able to carry out his life purpose which was attending to the well-being of Mom.
