Johnston Thkun POWDERFACE

Obituary of Johnston Tatunga Thkun POWDERFACE

September 7, 1929– March 4, 2012 Our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, nephew, cousin, and uncle was called home to be with the creator on Sunday, March 04, 2012 at the Canmore Hospital with his loving family at his bedside. Johnston lived life to the fullest by spending his days in nature with horses, his children, and especially with his grandchildren. He enjoyed training and breaking horses in his younger days. He was one of the greatest cowboys the nation had. He was a hard worker who gave his time and skills to the Bar U Ranch and Rafter 6 Ranch which lead him to be a guide’s man for the ranch. He was an avid horseman and horse whisperer that could tame any horse. His passion for nature and the outdoors lead him to climb many mountains, hunt, and enjoy his seasonal berry pickings. He was a hard worker who made to stay on top of things. Johnston battled a lengthy illness, but he’s now at peace with the family he dearly missed. He leaves to mourn his children Sharon, Rosemarie, Delbert, Berva, Derek, Cissy, Rhonda (Hyron), Farren, Geraldine, and Toby (Lynette) whom he loved and cherished deeply. As well, the adopted children he took as his own, Scotty Beaver, Keith Cecil, Conrad Rabbit, and Lawana Kootenay. His 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren were his token of love, he would always wonder how they were doing. Johnston is also survived by his siblings Gerald (Jenny) Clarke, Mabel Powderface, and Marlene Onespot; as well as many extended families from the Amos, Cecil, Dixon, Ear, Hunter, Kaquitts, Fox, Lefthand, Poucette, Powderface, and Weaselchild; and his remaining Paternal and Maternal uncles and aunt, Murray Hunter, Roy Dixon & Eva Labelle. Johnston was predeceased by his mother Lucille Lefthand, father Isaiah Powderface-Hunter, wife Charlotte Powderface, son Aaron Powderface, brothers Terence Powderface and Fred Powder Sr., sister Joan Cecil, and granddaughter Cherokee Littlechild-Bearspaw. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Fedema and to the Homecare Staff for the support they have given to us. We would like to apologize if we have missed anyone.
