Obituary of Martha Summers

August 11, 1925 – March 4, 2012 Martha Summers (nee Barrett) passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Martha was born in Red Willow, AB. She was raised by her Mother as her Father passed away when she was only six weeks old. Martha was raised on the family farm in Donalda area. It was here that she met John when he purchased the neighbouring farm. Martha and John were married in 1948 and survived raising their six children on the farm before moving to Calgary in 1971 to their home in Marlborough. In Calgary Martha finally had the time to enjoy her flower garden and she loved the time that she was able to spend with her family. She also loved the Toronto Blue Jays. Martha is survived by her children, son Tyrl and his wife Valerie Summers of Kamloops, BC, daughter Karen and her husband Jim Sirup of Edmonton, daughter Bev and her husband Mike Jakubowych of Calgary; son Lane and Jeannie Summers of Pinatan Lake, BC; and son Gary and his wife Anita Summers of Calgary; her grandchildren, Kim Grover of Calgary, Chris and husband James Lee of Calgary, Crystal Osmond of BC, Carlie Smith of Vancouver, BC, Michael Smith and fiancée Lisa Carter of Calgary, Tara and her husband Michael Werkmen of Vancouver, Laura and her husband Andy Semeniuk of Kamloops, Ashlynn Summers of Pinatan Lake, BC, and Drew Summers of Pinatan Lake, BC; and great-grandchildren, Hailey Grover of Calgary and Donavan Osmond of BC. Martha was predeceased by her husband of fifty years John Summers; and her daughter Judy Grover.
