Obituary of Christina Elizabeth BALFE

May 21, 1947 – February 28, 2012 Surrounded by her family, Christina Elizabeth Balfe passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 following a brief stay in Chinook Hospice after a long battle with cancer at the age of 64 years. Christina trained and practiced as an RN in the UK before coming to Canada in 1982 with her family. She is survived by her husband Jim, daughter and son-in-law Carrie and Ryan Knievel; granddaughters Abigail and Chloe; daughter and son-in-law Hannah and Reid Cavanagh. She is also survived by her sisters, Bonnie Pearce, Susan Griffin (Terry), and Jean Landrie (Rob), brother Mike Pearce and step brother Jim Brewer also brother and sister-in-law Ann Lowe (Joe), and Patrick Balfe. Christina will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, and their children, and the many children she cared for in her years of operating a day home. A gathering of friends will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Floral tributes may be sent to the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
