Obituary of Jonina Gladys MARTIN
June 18, 1917 – February 24, 2012
Jonina “Gladys” Martin passed away peacefully on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the age of 94 years.
Gladys was born in Arnes, Manitoba. She married Baldwin Martin of Hnausa, Manitoba in 1942. Baldwin and Gladys established their first home in Gimli, where Baldwin built and operated Martin Auto and Radio. Gladys was a homemaker, and their three oldest children were born in Gimli. Baldy’s health problems forced a move to Winnipeg in 1955 where their youngest son Randy, was later born. Baldy then worked for the T. Eaton Co. repairing and rebuilding church organs in surrounding areas. He passed on August 11, 1972. Gladys moved later to Calgary with Randy, and worked in home nursing care for a number of years. She also worked for the T. Eaton Co. before retiring.
Gladys is survived by her children William Martin, Gail (Clark) Chipman, Joy McDonald and Randy Martin, as well as 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Minnie Magnussen of Gimli, MB.
Gladys was predeceased by her husband Baldwin; older siblings Edward O’Hare, Bjarni O’Hare, Teenie Helgason, Bill O’Hare, Beatrice Magnussen; grandson Cody Chipman and daughter-in-law Nancy Martin.

Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Gladys will be laid to rest at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Winnipeg, MB with her loving husband Baldwin.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Heritage Pointe, Beverly Center Midnapore who cared so lovingly for our mother and grandmother.
