Obituary of Frederick Clifford McPIKE
December 14, 1917 – February 24, 2012
Fred passed away peacefully at the Beverly Centre Glenmore on Friday, February 24, 2012 at the age of 94 years.
Fred is lovingly remembered by his family, son Rod (Wendy); grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tim, Carla, Juliana, Jacob, Nicky, Sam, Wendy, Rosie, Tessie and Katie; special grandson and family Max, Tina and Kwame, Andy and Loreta, all in Alberta, David, Theresa, Isaac, Nathaniel and Naomi in Ottawa; Cathy and Dragon in the Netherlands. Fred is also survived by relatives and friends in England and BC.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Peggy on October 17, 2010; his parents Charles and Maude and step-mother Nellie..
Fred and Peggy emigrated to Canada in mid-life to follow their son Rod. Fred was very active in bicycle racing and swimming in his youth. He was in the RAF during the war and had many interesting stories of these times. Fred worked for the City of Toronto for 20 years, retiring to Vancouver Island. Fred moved to Alberta 4 years ago, living at the Bethany Care Centre in Airdrie, Beverly Centre Midnapore and finally Glenmore.
We are very grateful for the wonderful kindness and care for all of us at the Bethany Care and Beverly Centre’s, also to Simone and her husband Jim from the We Care Agency. Very special thanks to Father Andrew Pyon, Chaplain Rupert Lawrenz, St. Paul’s Airdrie and Father Marino and Father Iqbal and dear volunteers from Holy Spirit Parish Calgary for their love and help to make Fred’s passing peaceful and unafraid.

Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, (1305 Main Street S.E. Airdrie, Alberta) on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1305 Main Street S.E. Airdrie, AB on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at 11:00 a.m.
