Obituary of Kenneth Joseph CROWCHILD

February 12, 1964 – February 23, 2012
Kenneth left peacefully to explore the great mystery and be with the Lord on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the age of 48.
Ken was born in Calgary and will be remembered as a humble man. Rodeo and ranching was a big part of his life and was an accomplished Outrider at the Calgary Stampede. He had worked for Husky Oil and had organized the Christmas sleigh rides for the community kids as well as coached the community youth in hockey.
He is survived by his loving children Joseph (Leah), Chalsea (Luke), Theo (Raylee) and their mother Wanda; four cherished grandchildren Blake, Jovian, Alexa and Zaas. He is also survived by his companion Verna Onespot, step daughter Shanna; parents Chief Gordon and Maria Crowchild; brothers Lee (Diana) and Warren; sisters Pearl, Esther (Virgil), Lana (Davis), Sylvia, Heather (Bob), eleven nephews, six nieces and seven grandchildren, cherished cousin June Crowchild (Patrick) and extended families from Tsuu T’ina, Sioux Valley, Siksika, Hastings, New Zealand and Cedar Creek, AZ.
Ken is predeceased by his paternal Grandparents, Chief David (after whom Crowchild Trail was named) and Daisy Crowchild, as well as his maternal Grandparents Joseph and Laura Goodeagle, nephew Richard Crowchild, grandson August Whitney.
Wake Services will be held at the residence of Gordon and Maria Crowchild, on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral Service will be celebrated at Sarcee Seven Chiefs Sportsplex (3700 Anderson Road S.W. Calgary, AB) on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow Tsuu T’ina Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
