Obituary of Valerie Elizabeth ROBERTSON
December 23, 1925 – February 19, 2012
Valerie, beloved mother of Alison Robertson and Travis (Jane) Robertson, passed away suddenly at the age of 86 years.
Valerie was the youngest born into a large farming family in Crane Valley, Saskatchewan. Valerie lived most of her adult life in Calgary, raising Alison and Travis on her own after the death of her husband James Robertson in 1968. It was not an easy road for Valerie, times were hard and money was tight but she always found a way to make sure her kids had the opportunity to participate in sports and activities. Valerie took great pride in her children’s accomplishments, seeing both of them off to post-secondary education brought her great joy. In her later years, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, Travis and Keri Midwinter, and Liam and Bryn Robertson. Valerie was predeceased by her much adored sister Carolyn as well as many other siblings, and is survived by her sister Marge and nieces, Maureen and Glenda, along with many other family members.
Valerie will be missed for her brilliant mind and her razor sharp wit. She had a great companion and advocate in her daughter Alison, whose efforts are appreciated by us all.
As per Valerie’s wishes, a Funeral Service will not be held at this time. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
In living memory of Valerie Robertson, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
