Obituary of Janice Rose BERTRAM

May 26, 1962 – February 18, 2012 Janice’s long courageous battle with cancer came to an end on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the age of 49 years. Janice was born and raised in Calgary and received her Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary. She loved music, fashion, decorating, entertaining and anything to do with the arts, but her real passion was teaching mathematics. Janice spent most of her career at Western Canada High School followed by Centennial High School and her last four years at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir. Janice’s last few weeks of life were spent surrounded by hope, love and support from Linda, Cheryl, Nada, Roxanne and Ivy who were much like sisters to her. As well as special friends Brian, Nola and Susan who did so much. Janice touched the lives of many and she left this life knowing that she mattered and was loved. Janice will be forever missed by her brother David Bertram, sister Karen Judge (Bertram), brother-in-law Greg Judge, nephew Jarod Judge, close cousin Joe Hospodarec, as well as her aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her adorable dog, Chewy. Janice was predeceased by her mother Olga Bertram, father Dave Bertram and her beloved dog, Gracie. A Celebration of Janice’s Life will be held at the TELUS Spark Science Centre (220 St. George’s ST. NE) on Friday, February, 24 2012 at 3:30 p.m. wearing something pink would make Janice smile. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Thank you to her family, friends and staff at the Foothills Hospital Intensive Palliative Care unit who did such a great job of caring for Janice. As well as the incredible Oncology Team at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre with special thanks to Dr. Alexander Paterson and Dr. Veronica Sam who never gave up on her and did everything to keep her as well as possible for as long as possible. Another special thanks to all the Chemotherapy nurses and to Dr. Borghesan who developed such a special relationship with Janice over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made thru or at the celebration in the memory of Janice Bertram would be greatly appreciated. This fund will honour Janice and keep her love of learning alive.
