Obituary of Dorothy Margaret BLAIS

April 28, 1926 – February 15, 2012 We are sad to announce that Dorothy Blais passed away peacefully February 15, 2012 at the age of 85 years with family at her side. Dorothy was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta. After obtaining her teaching certificate she taught elementary school in Hines Creek and High Prairie. When her children had grown Dorothy returned to her career working as an educational assistant with the Calgary Separate School Board often teaching ESL and special needs students. She demonstrated her love of music by singing for many years with the Canadian Martyrs Choir. Dorothy had a great love of animals of which she rescued many. She shared her love of sports with her husband Johnny and continued to be a frequent observer at hockey and baseball in support of her son and grandsons. Dorothy’s life was full of exceptional family, friends and neighbours who brought joy to her life. Dorothy is survived by three children, Denise (Al) of Calgary, Gail of Victoria and Garth (Norma) of Calgary. She is also survived by three grandsons, Matthew, Nicholas, and Daniel; sisters Joyce (Jack) Savage of Newmarket, ON and Evelyn (Evin) Stump of Temecula, CA, as well as numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and their children and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John D. Blais; parents William and Madeleine Storm and brother Bill Storm. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church (835 Northmount Drive N.W.) on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
