Obituary of Walter GOLEMBLASKI
July 9, 1931 – February 15, 2012
Walter (Wally) Golemblaski beloved husband of Marcia of Calgary, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the age of 80 years.
During the last three years Wally took on the challenges of his illness with truly great dignity. He had new adventures, making a trip to Vancouver Island and moving into a new home. He celebrated his eightieth birthday, sharing many stories about growing up and was especially grateful for all the changes he had experienced in his lifetime…indoor plumbing, electricity! He loved the Shuswap area of British Columbia and traveled there to visit family and friends as much as possible. Every day he read his morning newspaper, checked in with his kids, watched his favourite game shows, and of course, followed almost every sporting event possible. At the beginning of this new year, Wally’s health took a turn. He needed more help from more people. Wally was always determined to take one more step, and so you could hear us all counting along with him to make that possible. Wherever you might be as you read this, in Wally’s honour, please count along with us… 1, 2, 3 and stand up with Wally!
Besides his loving wife Marcia of fifty-eight years, Wally is survived by children, Denise, Grant, Kelly and Craig; daughter-in-law Lisa; grandchildren Meghan and Rebecca; sister Mary Ann Paul; and brothers Tony and Harvey. He was predeceased by his son Jamie.
At Wally’s request, please join us for a gathering of friends and family at The Royal Canadian Legion 264 (1910 Kensington Rd. N.W.) on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
