Obituary of Di MENNA
November 28, 1922 – February 14, 2012
Angela Di Menna beloved wife of Filippo Di Menna of Calgary, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the age of 89 years, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Angela was born in Agnone, Italy in the region of Molise to Pasquale and Carmela Di Ciocco. She spent her youth mostly on the family farm until she met and later married her beloved Filippo on December 9, 1939. Angela and Filippo immigrated to Canada in 1954 with their three daughters and settled in Calgary where they realized their dream of establishing a tight knit extended family. Angela delighted in spending time with her loved ones, sharing Italian tradition and instilling by example her values of honor and respect for God, family and friends. She enjoyed travelling with Filippo, and her family and friends, in her middle years and always thanked God that she was given the opportunity to do so. She was truly a woman of faith and she cherished every blessing of her great life.
Angela is survived by her loving husband Filippo; her three daughters Lina Esposito (Nicola), Emilia Trevisan (Ezio), and Carmela Barichello (Lino). She will forever live in the hearts of her grandchildren James Esposito (Darcy), Lisa Sherger (Mark), Robert Trevisan (Gill), Danny Trevisan (Martika), Dario Barichello, and Linda Slack (Rick). Her love and warm embraces will be sorely missed by her great-grandchildren Angela Russell (Bret), Kimberly Slack, Brandon Slack, Nicholas Sherger, Sean Trevisan, and Marcus Trevisan. Angela was predeceased by her parents Pasquale and Carmela Di Ciocco and her younger and only brother Gino Di Ciocco.
The Family wishes to extend its heartfelt thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of the Intercare Southwood Hospice for the dignified and sensitive care they provided for Angela.
