Obituary of Rosemary Faith McLEAN

March 24, 1926 – February 13, 2012 Rosemary Faith McLean of Calgary, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the age of 85 years after a lengthy time in hospital. She recently had moved back to Calgary after living ten years on the west coast in Gibsons, BC. Rosemary was born in Durham, ON and grew up in Grimsby, ON with her parents, George A. Webb and Isabel A. Slyfield, and her siblings, Stella, Albert, Trudy, Pearl and Arthur. At twenty-one she married Baron John Murdock McLean of Hamilton, ON, a young officer in the 2nd Royal Canadian Regiment, to whom she was married for fifty-five years. Rosemary had a fondness for beautiful clothes. She enjoyed travelling and lived in a number of places in Canada and the United States as well as in the Holy Land, Syria and Israel. She particularly loved living by the sea, walking the beach and finding beautiful stones and shells. Variously military wife, mother, bank teller, antique dealer, she was also a collector and crafter of dolls and teddy bears, Rosemary was an avid reader and a competitive bridge, cribbage and scrabble player. Rosemary will be lovingly remembered by son, Douglas Iain Duart McLean, his wife, Carol Grace Adeline McLean, their children, Barry Iain Ray McLean, Nairn Douglas Paul McLean and Christina Grace Adeline McLean, all of Calgary, and daughter Katherine Anne McLean and her life partner, Naomi Elizabeth Macey, both of Powell River, BC. Rosemary was predeceased by her husband, mother, father and all of her siblings. “I offer you peace. I offer you love. I offer you friendship. I see your beauty. I hear your need.
