Obituary of Edith Ruth WHALEN

June 29, 1939 – February 12, 2012 Edith (Edie) Whalen, beloved wife of W. James (Jim) Whalen of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012 at the age of 72 years. Edie was born in Griffin, SK. Besides her loving husband of twenty-eight years, Edie is survived by daughters, Laurie Peterson and Dianne Cohen; grandchildren, Lee, Shachar and Itai Cohen, grandson, Jason Fehr; sister-in-law Gayla Peterson. She is also survived by in-laws, Pat and Sharon Whalen and Michael Whalen and their families. Edie was predeceased by her son Wayne Fehr, grandson Christopher Peterson, and her brother Ken Peterson. Edie’s strength, warm spirit and optimism will continue to be an inspiration to everyone that knew her and had the privilege to share her company. The family wish to thank Edie’s home caregivers, with a special thanks to Suzie, as well as the nursing staff and doctors at Foothills Hospital, Unit 46, for their loving and compassionate care. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
