Obituary of Betty Adrienne COOPER
March 7, 1925 – February 11, 2012
The family announces with sorrow the death of Betty Adrienne Cooper (nee Colley) on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Foothills Hospital at the age of 87 years.
Betty was born in Porirua, New Zealand, and came to Calgary with her husband, Peter, in 1950.
Betty was a war-time veteran of the New Zealand army where she rose to the rank of sergeant. Alongside Peter, she travelled the world including tackling journeys to far and remote destinations. Betty and Peter also made several circumnavigations together by freighter. Betty was an early member of the Calgary ski scene and enjoyed many fine weekends on the slopes of Mt. Norquay. She was a wise, gentle, and deeply affectionate person. She was immensely proud of her granddaughter, Katja.
Betty is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Peter Cooper of Calgary; her son Richard; daughter-in-law Betty-Lou; and granddaughter Katja, all of Ontario. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
