Obituary of Louise Mimmy GILAVISH
February 27, 1925 – February 4, 2012
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Louise on Saturday, February 4, 2012.
Born of Italian parents who emigrated from Italy in 1919, Louise was born in Old Wives, Saskatchewan on February 27, 1925 and lived in Crestwind and Moose Jaw before relocating to Calgary in 1949 where she and her husband raised their four children. Louise was a talented writer and in her younger days wrote several short stories. She attended Henderson’s Business College and graduated with honours. Known affectionately as Mousie, she was a generous, colourful free-spoken lady and her witticisms will not be forgotten.
Louise was a dedicated volunteer at the Children’s Hospital and the Golden Age Club for twenty years.
Louise is survived by her son, Ron (Bev); grandchildren Cyndi (Guy), Shelley, Kenney, Laomie and Dawnese; great-grandchildren Cassandra and Riley.
Louise was predeceased by her parents Helen and Alex Ferrara; infant son Alex, son Donnie, daughter Anita; husband Henry; sisters Frankie, Lonnie and brother Jimmy.
As Louise had a great zest for life it was her request that there be no funeral service, however, a private family celebration of Louise’s life will be held at a later date. Louise would encourage you to share a dinner out with someone you love.
Rest in peace dear Grandma.
