Obituary of Maxine Dorothy KLOKEID

August 12, 1925 – December 18, 2011 It is with great sadness that Kerry Jon and Terry Jack announce the passing of their mother Maxine Dorothy Klokeid on December 18, 2011. She was born August 12, 1925 in Cardston, Alberta to the Low family; a pioneer family who settled there in the 1890’s. Maxine moved to Calgary in 1930 attending McDougall Elementary and Junior High School. Graduating from Western Canadian High School at the age of 16, she went onto work at the RCAF #11 Supply Depot where she met Jack; the love of her life. They were married in 1946 and lived in the huts at Currie Barracks, a far cry from today’s PMQ’s. During Jack’s 33 year career in the army, Maxine kept busy raising the boys and enjoyed the many destinations that Jack’s postings took them to including Germany and Cyprus. After Jack retired they moved to their beautiful log home in Bragg Creek, moving back to Calgary in 1999 where she continued to feed her beloved squirrels and birds. Jack passed away in May of 2011 after 65 years of marriage leaving a huge gap in her life. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law Kerry and Susan of Victoria B.C and Terry and Elizabeth of Salt Spring Island B.C. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren Krista and Adam Klokeid. She is survived by her brother William McLennan, his wife Carolyn and their 3 sons of Calgary and will be missed by her sister-in-law Jackie of Bragg Creek and her six daughters, along with her niece Margaret, husband Harvey, daughters Candice and Alison (Roxy), and her niece Lori all from Victoria. Maxine will be lovingly remembered and missed by many extended family members and especially by her good friends Muriel and Alma as well as all those who knew her. A celebration of life for both Jack and Maxine will be held at the Bragg Creek Snowbirds Seniors Lodge (Tel: 403-949-3313) on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through .
