To our family in Canada
What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth when you did, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave memories too beautiful to forget.
We so wish we could be there with you. Our heartfelt condolences.
Pete, George Snr, George Jnr, Janie, Gary, Ashleigh and Bianca
I truely regret not being able to see Bill in recent years. Bill stood out as a beacon of calm and civility in a world which sometimes finds these commodities in short supply.
Bill is a clear example that the High Road is the better route through life.

It was a true pleasure to get to know Bill through the Clan Maxwell Pipe Band. I have fond memories of standing side by side with Bill playing our pipes. The band will carry on with heavy hearts. All my condolences to the family

So very sad to hear of Bill’s passing, he will never be forgotten by myself or my daughter Jacqueline. His pipping always reminded me of my time in Dundee as teenager. His conversation en route to Lodge together was always bright, cheerful and full of family news and anecdotes. I know they all brought great joy to his life.

Margaret, Bill and Family,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. I have many fond memories of the times that I spent with both of your parents, even when I was very young.
Both of your parents were very proud of both of you, your spouse, and your children. All of you gave them a wonderful life.
Our thoughts are with you always.

So sad to hear of Bill’s passing, a man who wore his Scottish heritage on his sleeve. I’ll compose a wee slow air in his memory and play it on my accordion with fond memories
A few words on my memories of your father. I first met your father as an acting sergeant when I was a young constable. I later re-connected with Bill when I affiliated with St. Marks. I joined Bill many times as a member of the Police Degree Team. I was always impressed with BIll’s work. At the spring workshop one year, Bill demonstrated that he could still recite grade school memory work learned as a young boy.
Bill will always be my St. marks idol. His attendance at meetings and his willingness to fill in at a moments notice for any floor work was demonstrated time and again. Bill was the Masonic idea of a good man made better by his affiliation with the craft.
I am sorry that I am unable to attend the service.

We were honored to know Bill and Olive for over 50 years. We were thrilled that our son Donald, married their daughter Margaret. Bills family joined “The Clan Maxwell Pipes and Drums Band” the year it did it’s first parade in 1987. We will remenber Bill’s pride, when his granchildren took on the Scottish Tradion with Meghan and Donny pipers and Laura a beautiful Highland dancer. When we hear the pipes we will think of our friends Bill and Olive.
As a fellow member of the Calgary Police, I knew Bill for years. He was always a good man, with a fine sense of humour. He will be missed.
My condolences to his family.
Sorry about your loss. Our thoughts and prayers to all of Bill’s family and friends alike.
