Obituary of Duncan Scott McPHERSON
April 9, 1924 – January 24, 2012
Duncan McPherson of Calgary passed away while visiting friends in Kelowna on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at the age of 87 years.
Duncan was born and raised in Dinsmore, SK. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan as a Pharmacist. While working in Edmonton he met and married Eleanor Douglas and their daughter Norie was born in 1952. They returned to Dinsmore where Duncan became the Pharmacist, Postmaster and Fire Chief. They then moved to Regina for Norie to attend high school while Duncan worked in the health care industry for the government of Saskatchewan. Upon his retirement they followed Norie to Calgary where she worked in advertising for television and radio. Duncan continued to maintain contact with his pharmacy colleagues. He was a die hard Roughrider’s fan and was even featured in the Calgary Herald as a Roughrider Octogenarian and was also a member of the Shriner’s. Duncan will be fondly remembered for his storytelling, practical jokes and his love of cribbage.
Duncan is survived by sisters-in-law, Vivienne Douglas and Yvette McPherson; nieces, nephews, cousins and his extended family at Garrison Woods Manor. He was predeceased by his wife Eleanor McPherson; his daughter Norie McPherson; his parents Eleanor and Peter McPherson and twin brothers, Lyle and Laurie.
