Obituary of Timothy Michael VOLK
November 29, 1933 – January 23, 2012
Tim Volk of Calgary passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the age of 78 years.
A Saskatchewan farm boy, Tim moved with his family to Alberta and became a Chartered Accountant. He met and married Maryel Bernard while articling for his CA. Tim worked for United Farmers of Alberta and the Alberta Wheat Pool, becoming Director of Finances. He was involved in grain elevator and grain sales across the globe, most notably in Argentina, Russia and China. After retiring from the Wheat Pool, Tim joined Merbanco, a global merchant banking firm. He loved golfing, garage saling, gambling and travelling.
After retiring from Merbanco, Tim continued to travel. Very special to Tim and Maryel were their annual trips with lifelong friends William and Sheila Heater, and time spent with Tim’s mother Mary. Family was very important to him.
Tim is survived by children Dave and Gina Volk, Kevin and Virginia Volk, Sylvia Volk and Lisa and Glen Chilton, and grandson Michael Volk. He is also survived by his sister Helen Domso, his brother Ed and Patti Volk, his sister-in-law Pat Volk, and numerous other relatives. Tim was predeceased by his wife of fifty-one years, Maryel Volk, and his brother Bill Volk.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
