Obituary of Norman Earl BESSE
August 7, 1930 – January 21, 2012
Norm passed away peacefully in the early hours of January 21, 2012 at the age of 81 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-one years Elizabeth (Betty) Besse; his only child Cheri-Lynn Besse; and son-in-law Dave Oakley. He is also lovingly remembered by his twin sister Norma and her husband Ray Schindelka; and sister-in-law Irene Besse; his mother-in-law Helen Sushetski; his sister-in-law Jane and her husband John Moffitt; his brother-in-law Jim Sushetski and his wife Ruth. He will be forever cherished by numerous nieces and nephews along with their children. Norm was predeceased by his brother Tom; and his parents Earl and Kathleen Besse.
Norm had a passion for sports and in his youth excelled at both Baseball and Hockey. Later in his life he spent a lot of time yelling at the T.V. as if the players and referees could hear him. Norm and Betty spent thirty-five years in Hinton, AB where they raised their daughter and made many lifelong friends. After retirement Norm and Betty spent many hours camping and spending time with their friends and family. Anyone who knew Norm will remember his easy smile, sense of humor and heartfelt laughter. He will be missed dearly.
A Celebration of Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Airdrie Funeral Home (300 Towerlane Drive, Airdrie, Alberta) on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Airdrie Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
