Obituary of Andrew Morris TOMS

April 1, 1930 – January 21, 2012 Andrew Toms passed away peacefully at the Rockyview Hospital on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the age of 81 years. He was born in Melville, SK to Doris and Stephen Toms. At a young age he left home seeking work and adventure. Andrew married the love of his life, Anne Dowhan in 1956. They lived in Calgary for 51 years until her passing on December 5, 2007. He was a Greyhound Bus Driver for 39 years and retired in 1991. He loved his job and the people he met and worked with. Andrew loved the time he spent with family and friends and if it was over coffee, even better. He was a social man with a sense of humor that will never be forgotten. He was truly a unique character. We love you and you’ll be missed Dad Andrew is survived by his four children and their families all of Calgary; James (Sandi) and their children Andrew and Matthew; Laurel (David Quinn) and their children Joshawa, Gregory and Kristie; Kathy (Darren O’Brien, deceased) and their child Shannon and Elaine (Dean Gelowitz). Andrew had requested that there be no service. The family would like to extend their heart felt appreciation to Dr. Gail Ewasechko, the nurses and staff on Unit 56 at the Rockyview Hospital for their compassion, kindness and excellent care of Andrew and the family during his last days. In addition, thank you to the staff and friends Dad developed during his short stay at Wentworth Manor. You all made it comfortable and a home for him. He was especially thankful for the companionship he developed with Dorothy Nash.
