Obituary of Maria Gezina Helena PARKIN

May 16, 1932 – January 17, 2012 Maria Parkin beloved wife of Douglas Parkin passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the age of 79 years. Maria was born in Groningen, Netherlands and moved to Canada in 1953 at the age of 21 to join her first husband John de Boer. Initially making their home in Rocky Mountain House they moved to Calgary to raise their family. During her working life, she enjoyed employment in the retail fashion industry. As a child she was an award winning swimmer and diver. Maria loved the companionship of dogs, raising a number of Great Danes and German Shepherds. She had a great love for family and dedicated most of her life to enhancing the work of her children. Maria is survived by her husband Doug; children; Hilda, Richard, Marian and Sean; grandchildren Tracy and Sarah and her sisters in Holland, Janny and Coos. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.
