Obituary of Stroma NICHOL

August 16, 1926 – January 15, 2012 Stroma Nichol of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the age of 85 years. Stroma was born in Thurso, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in the early 1950’s. Stroma was a Para-Legal and worked in the oil and gas industry prior to estate law. Stroma was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and following her retirement she volunteered with Meals On Wheels. Stroma will be remembered as a kind lady and was appreciated by her family for her loving generosity toward them. She will be greatly missed. Stroma is survived by two sisters Aileen (John) Gilhooly and Fiona Carew, her nieces and nephews Maureen (Wayne) Wakeford, Bernadette “Peanut” Gilhooly, Ian Gilhooly, Morag (Steve) Kosten, Michael (Stephanie) Gilhooly, Bruce (Sakine) Carew and Bill (Cathy) Carew, her great nieces and nephews Jennifer and Alanna Wakeford, Austin, Devin, Keira and Grace Gilhooly, Jaxon, Vinessa, Sherry-Lynn, Matthew, Adel and Trevor Carew. She was predeceased by her parents Edward and Minnie Nichol, a sister Patricia Eckersley, a brother-in-law Bruce Carew and a nephew Brian Eckersley. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4 Street S.W., Calgary) on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
