Christine: I just wanted to drop a short note to say that I’m sorry to hear about the recent loss of your father.

Very sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. Both my Dad( Fred Sr.) and myself worked with Doug; Dad in the 1950’s and me in the 80’s and 90’s.Thoughts are with you Cliff. Take care.

What a great man! I worked for Doug in the late 70’s and started my Carpentry aprentiship with him . I think of him often and his quirky sence of humor. He loved to play jokes on people . He loved his horses and sometimes we would sneek away from the jobsite to feed his horses oats. He would buy neglected horses in bad shape and fatten them up and treat them with love .I learned so much from this man . He treated his workers with respect and got alot of respect in return . When Doug spoke people listened . I just know that the tree planted in his memory will be the bigest strongest and have the best roots just like this wonderful man .

Hello again Ada, I am sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. Doug was warm and kind to me on the times, with my sketch book in hand I invaded his horse barn. This was from 2002 until about 2010. My book,”Under the Runway” is in final draft for release March 2012. It is a drawing and text memorial about Doug’s barn, his horses and the whole area. I will bring you a few copies.

My codolences to all of the Hagen family. Mr.Hagen was a large part of the Rosscarrock hockey program in the late 60’s and early 70’s. He was very invloved in keeping the community hockey rink going every year, every month and every day during the cold winter months. He spent alot of long hours flooding and scraping the ice so we could all enjoy the game of hockey. We spent hours playing every night and weekends with John and Cliff and the rest of the the kids from the community. Mr. Hagen (Doug) would always be there at one point. He was the pillar of the community when it came to hockey, and I thank him for the dedication he had for all the kids that played hockey in the community. Not just hockey but he was a great all around outdoorsmen also, and if you needed help he was always there to get you out of a bind.

Thanks to Mr Hagen, we all have great memories of the hockey we played in that community. The whole tinymite team would be packed into his Studebaker. Such great memories that I will never forget.

Very sorry to hear of Doug’s passing

He was a wonderful man. I remember playing hockey for him. I remember him building my Mom and Dads retaining wall and also camping out in Bragg Creek area. I especially remember him grabbing that Honda 90 motorbike and tossing it into the back of the panel wagon like it was a bag of flower.

So sorry to hear of Dougs passing. He and my Dad had many great times together over the years and also enjoyed “chewing the fat” over a cup of Timies more recently.
