Obituary of Sarah Elizabeth HOLMAN
September 25, 1927 – January 10, 2012
Sally Holman of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the age of 84 years.
Sally was born in Ballynahinch, Northern Ireland and is the last of the McCartans of that generation to pass. Sally has accomplished many things in her life. She had an interesting and varied work life and had particularly fond memories of her time as an executive assistant at the Royal Automobile Club in London. In Canada an accomplishment that she was most proud of was coordinating the Violet Archer Festival in Edmonton. She became the “go-to” person at the Shouldice Lodge where she lived and was considered the resident social worker.
Sally leaves behind eight children, Jane (Gerry), Chris (Elana), David (Pat), Moya (Laurence), Lisa, Grainne (a.k.a. Gia), Tim (Marlene), and Denis; sixteen grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of sixty years David; her mother and father, two sisters, and two brothers.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.), on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
