Obituary of Sydney Larvin
February 24, 1933 – January 4, 2012
Sydney “Syd” Larvin Robertson beloved husband, father and grandfather “Pop” of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the age of 78 years.
Syd Robertson was born in Clive, Alberta in 1933. Syd was a lifetime member of APEGGA and a practicing Engineer for many years. In his later years, Syd kept his mind very active with financial activities, and the running of his “Empire”. Syd (Syd the Kid) was an avid sports fan, and participated in baseball, golf and curling in his younger years. Syd also enjoyed many excursions with family and friends and was always fun to be around. He was always positive, and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
He leaves behind his wife of fifty-seven years, Edith, as well as his son Gordon (Joanne); daughter Laurie (Bob) Venables; lovely grandchildren, Jaime, Jessica, Megan and Graham; and brother George (Diane) of Western Shore, Nova Scotia. Syd was predeceased by his mother and father, Ann and Peter Robertson, as well as three brothers, David, John and Peter.
Memorial Services will be held at St. Andrew’s United Church (924 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Friday, January 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to thank Syd’s caregivers, Monika, Elizabeth, Vilma, Miriam, and Hermina for their loving care and attention to him in his declining years.
