Obituary of Felicia Anne PEDHIRNEY
June 2, 1918 – December 29, 2011
Felicia Pedhirney beloved mother passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the age of 93 years.
She was one of four children born to John and Caroline Kukurski in Beausejour, MB. Her life was an exciting journey of accomplishments including being named the first president of the “Young Polish People of Calgary” and subsequently selected by the polish consulate to attend a one year study of polish history and culture at the University of Warsaw prior to the outbreak of World War II. She married her husband Harry on April 7, 1947 and together they raised their two sons Gayland and John in Banff, AB, where Felicia, in addition to her family responsibilities, became a founding partner of the Banff Park Savings and Credit Union where she served as a manager and director for 19 years. Retirement years were enjoyed in Black Diamond, AB with Harry prior to her relocating to Calgary in 2008. She will be sadly missed by all of our family and her friends.
Felicia is survived by her brother-in-law Louis Sharkey; close first cousin Lea Nate; two sons Gayland (Norah) and John (Lauretta); grandchildren Meghan Alderson, Michael Pedhirney, Jessica Hamilton, John Paul Pedhirney; great-grandchildren Bodie Alderson, Brielle Alderson and Maddison Hamilton.
Felicia was predeceased by her loving husband Harry; mother Caroline; brothers Edward and Robert; and beloved sister Jean.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel, (5008 Elbow Drive S.W. Calgary, AB) on Friday, January 13, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
