She spent her younger childhood in Vancouver and then in Chatham, ON with her parents owning a grocery store. In 1957 Wanda and her family moved to Calgary to start up a family business of drycleaner locations. Wanda worked at the Westinghouse company, Alberta Gas Trunkline Corp. and moved onto become a commercial real estate agent later in her career. She met and kept many good friends throughout her career. Wanda has volunteered in many areas such as brownie leader, quilting teacher, and golf organizer. Member of the Silver Springs Golf Club since 1976, Wanda served in an executive position in the ladies section and volunteered her time to a sport she truly loved. During the winter months, Wanda organized a group of ladies at the Silver Springs Golf Club (named stitch & bitch) to make quilts, mitts, hats and blankets to donate to charities such as CUPS, Mustard Seed, The Deane House, etc over the years. A devoted quilter, Wanda worked and taught at the Freckles Quilt Shop for over ten years. Wanda’s family and friends have many of her beautifully made quilting projects to treasure for generations.
