I had the very great pleasure and privilege of knowing and occasionally working with Gary for many years at TransCanada PipeLines in Toronto and Calgary.
Gary was a kind and generous colleague and mentor who was never without a cheerful smile and friendly greeting. A true gentleman in every way.

Dear Shirley,
I was shocked and very saddened to read of Gary’s passing in the Herald. I very much valued his assistance but, almost as importantly, we became good friends, enjoyed time together, and held a strong mutual trust.
I very much regret that I was not in Calgary to attend the service. Please accept my most sincere condolences and prayers, not only for Gary, but also to help you and your family bear the burden of your loss.
Gerry

Dear Shirley and family: it is with much sadness that I read about Gary’s passing. He was a much loved member of the M&M hiking group where I first met you, Shirley, and Gary. He sure supplied ua with many a laugh over the years which made him so popular. I know you will miss him terribly, but better that he is at peace after his final illness.
Love, Colleen Matthews
